Federal Volunteer Service (BFD) at the Grieg-Begegnungsstätte Leipzig
From 1 September 2026, the Grieg-Begegnungsstätte Leipzig is offering an exciting placement (21 hours/week) as part of the Federal Volunteer Service (BFD). The position is limited to 12 months. Applications can be submitted by 15 June 2026 at the latest to info@edvard-grieg.de.
Who we are:
The Grieg-Begegnungsstätte is located in the historic headquarters of the C. F. Peters music publishing house. Here it commemorates the important publishing and music history of 19th-century Leipzig. The musical celebrities of the day came and went here, built networks and presented new compositions. As Peters' "house composer", the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg held a very special position among these guests. During his stays he occupied a guest apartment under the roof.
Since 2005, the historic rooms have housed an exhibition about Grieg and his connection to Leipzig. With concerts, readings and more, we keep alive the spirit of encounter of that era. In 2018, the Grieg-Begegnungsstätte, as part of the Leipzig Notenspur, was awarded the European Heritage Label together with other musical heritage sites of the city.
Tasks:
- Looking after visitors during opening hours and at events
- Supporting artist liaison during events
- Box office duties, tours and catering (e.g. making coffee)
- Assisting with the preparation and follow-up of events
- Supporting the regular operation of the meeting place
- Managing the social media channels (Instagram, Facebook)
What we are looking for:
- Interest in culture and events
- Willingness to work flexible hours, especially in the evenings and at weekends
- Knowledge of how to use social media is an advantage
- Confident command of written and spoken German and English
- Reliability, team spirit and enjoyment of working with people
- Confident use of Microsoft Office programs (especially Word, Excel)
