On the occasion of the TACHELES year, the Robert Schumann House Zwickau is creating an exhibition in 2026 on Robert and Clara Schumann's relationships with Judaism. Drawing on the song "Erinnerung an Eichendorff und Schumann" by the Jewish composer Hanns Eisler, written in American exile, museum director Dr. Thomas Synofzik has developed a programme of music by Schumann and Eisler together with tenor Martin Bastian, which we are now bringing to Leipzig.

Martin Bastian (tenor) trained as a singer in Dortmund and Cologne and at the Sherborne Summer School of Music with teachers such as Ian Partridge and Stephen Varcoe. He lives in Witten.
Thomas Synofzik (piano) studied historical keyboard instruments at the music academies in Cologne and Brussels (concert diploma 2000) and musicology, German studies and philosophy at the University of Cologne (doctorate 2000). In 2005 he was appointed director of the Robert Schumann House in Zwickau.
