The actress Eva Mayer (1917–2008) grew up among painters, actors and writers, for whom the door was always open in Munich-Schwabing at the home of her father Alfred Mayer, the "active friend of all artists".
That is where her memories begin, from which the actress Sibylle Kuhne reads – complemented by Barbara Trommer with excerpts from the laudatio of the Leipzig theatre and from other documents. For years, Eva Mayer was engaged as an actress at the Städtische Bühnen Leipzig, with her home at Talstrasse 10.
Helga Wallmüller, "legend of theatre photography", wrote on her 80th birthday:
"Dear Eva! You can look back on a life that – from your childhood on – was shaped by art. How wonderful – how enviable! And this understanding, this life with art, gives you strength, enjoyment and fulfilment to this day. (…)"
Sibylle Kuhne:
"For me, the beginner, Eva Mayer was not only a motherly friend during my first steps in the theatre, she also introduced me to Jewish literature, acquainted me with works of visual art, with Worpswede, with Jewish life, with the salon culture at her father's home."
